Our Programs Include:
Annual National Conference A five day event with a provincial and national scope consisting of presentations, workshops, sharing circles, individual counselling, and music by the Rising Above Band. Presentations include; Sexual Abuse: Definition, Impact, Recovery; Self-Hatred; Sexuality & Sex; Residential School Experience: History, Impact, Recovery; Repentance; and Forgiveness. Workshop topics include; Suicide; Grief; Depression, How to Counsel a Sexually Abused Person; Parenting. Leadership in planning is provided by Rising Above’s Event Manager working with a Local Event Coordinator and Local Committee. More Info Regional Conferences Three to four day events similar in structure to the annual conference but with a more localized emphasis. Fewer and more local issues are addressed and more local autonomy and responsibility is given in planning. More Info Regional Seminars One or two day workshops addressing local issues. Can be implemented as a follow-up to a conference. Ishaawin Counselling Centre Christian counselling for individuals, couples, families; Support groups; Seminars, workshops & training.
